Underbite dilema

Whats up, so I'm training some good boxing, and slowly going to train some good martial arts, and bjj. I havn't decided what Id like to do yet, as faras a professional career goes, but I have a dilema, which is my mouth. I have a big underbite, and my front teeth dont touch, leaving open a 8MM gap. Ive been using some of the cheaper mouth pieces, only part of my teeth that close together are the back teeth. I recently were told to get a custom piece, but how bad will this effect me if I were to get into professional boxing? can it be done?
