    Power in punches

Just wondering for any advice on how to increase the power in my punches. Supposedly I hit really hard already, but want to get better.

I dont know if your gym has one but a heavybag against a wall and just keep hitting in with the same punch over and over again

hey what's up, shadow boxing is the best. Perfecting technique will lead to speed and power. But if you're looking for muscle specific training. then overall body workouts are perfect take burpees for example. power begins from the ground up. Think legs, core, back, shoulders, punch! So a full body workout like burpees should produce consistent power since you're entire body is getting attention rather than isolating muscle groups. But in case you do want to isolate muscle groups then clap pushups are great (plyometric exercises for explosiveness) as well as wide grip pullups to build monster traps (t****zius muscles located in back). Good luck

Hitting the bag the bag harder builds it up and also your technique is the key. Make sure you put your hip into it and you twist your hand when you land.

i read a bodybuilding.com article that was saying that you can increase the power of your punches by strengthening your abs. im not sure if thats true but i'll look for the article...

I definitely agree on technique. That is my strength anyway so i'm not worried about that.

But what you're saying is that if I keep doing my normal training and focus on hitting hard, that will be the best way to build up the strength?

I have a few bags and they are all good.

                Thanks guys.

Not just your abs but your core to create as much torque as possible to put behind your punches. Work your whole body, a good punch is from everywhere, a weak punch is from your arms, so don't just do pushups. Legs, back, core and arms are all important along with technique. Do this and it will naturally improve.

I would simply say regular bagwork and strict discipline of technique and not forgetting conditioning work.

This guy is pretty good at explaining the body mechanics of punching, hope it helps.
