  • Advice on glothes/mitts...

Had a 4ft 25kg heavy boxing bag for month or so now and the mitts just seem too thin as I'm easily hurting my hands. The bag is filled with sand and fabric cuttings, the top half is pretty soft, bottom seems overly hard. Got a zip up top so could alter it but would be tricky.

Anyone got any advice, and recommend any particular mitts or glothes? I'm 140 lbs and wana start punishing this bag back! Cheers..

Depending on how serious you are about this boxing thing you can find a nice selection on titleboxing.com I have a pair of winning gloves. Rather expensive but my hands are my best investment so I wear them to protect them. Good luck.

Ok, but based on my weight of 140lbs, a 25kg bag - mitts or glothes and what size/weight etc?

Im at roughly 158 I started with 14 ounce gloves but had problems with protection so I went up to 16oz. I say 16oz should be where you start I mean every time I spar I wear 16 for protection of my hands and my sparring partner.

And on a 25kg heavy bag? Dunno why they include such thin mitts.

get grants, trust me. elcheapo hook and loop. they stand up better than everlasts, and stay far away from those adidas gloves. I had a hand surgery and bought a pair of adidas 12ozs, I was only using my left hand while I trained, but I literally in a two-three month period disrupted the padding in that left glove to where the padding is poking up on top of the glove, etc.

            oh, and...

            get 16's.

If you are a serious competitor, buy the ones they use in matches at the highest level of the boxing code you compete in, ie. Grant or Reyes if you are a pro and Top Ten, Green Hill or Adidas if you are an AM.

Everlast, Lonsdale and Title make second rate poor quality and **** stuff. From the mid range priced stuff, Twins Special are the highest quality.

I really appreciate all the help, but I'm getting conflicting stuff and not sure which to go with, and don't need high end expensive ones for the little amount I'm doing. I've concluded 16oz pretty much.

Top Ten or Green Hill sound about right perhaps, dunno tho nothing conclusive.

I was able to make a topic about this, but i guess i'll use your thread.

I know i need 16 oz gloves for sure, but im not sure between rival and title bag gloves. I know title gloves are usually great but i also heard good things about rival gloves. I narrowed my choice between these 3:

                    http://www.rivalboxing.com/e/rb1-e.html

                    http://store.titleboxing.com/twins-t...ag-gloves.html

                    or

                    http://store.titleboxing.com/power-w...ag-gloves.html

The last ones im really not sure about, they said the are 14 oz without the weights, so maybe the protection wouldnt be enough.
