  • Why does everyone say....

that supplements and other stuff hurt you more than help you in boxing. Even my trainer says getting on a good supplement plan will give you an advantage.

Now i dont mean steroids or anything I mean like protein, branch chained amino acids, multi vitamins etc.

Creatine is controversial but if you take it correctly you will definetly benefit from it.

As long as you know what your taking and eat and workout appropriately it will do wonders.

I disagree with people who say supplements are bad for you (boxing or not). You need lots of protein and unless you have the time/money/access to eat chicken, eggs, nuts, etc every couple hours, youre going to need some kind of protein shake.

I only use protein shakes on days that I workout with weights. I drink it right after the workout and I think it is working great. Make sure you count that as a meal though (maybe eat a bananna or something too). If you have a meal after that it may be overload and you may gain a little weight.

hope that helps, (you're going to get a flood of replies i'm sure)

I agree, the supplements i take are a multi-vitamin, Super Acidophilus(for digestion), Black Walnut(good for blood), Oxy Dismutase, BCAA's(Branch chain amino acids) and Waxymase(Carbohydrate) and i've noticed a big difference in my training since im not always able to eat properly cause i work full time, coach baseball, and someone let myself get tied down with a gf.

The reason I personally say supplements are bad for you is because they're unnatural and are produced by man. My lifestyle relies on an all-natural diet, so that's basically the only thing I have against it. I get my protein from animals and nuts.

I also see supplements as an excuse to not work as hard, or to get results faster. I like to push myself and know that I'm not using man-made **** to get to where I want to be.

That's just me though. If it works for you, go ahead and use it. You will probably get results, as you would with steroids (not saying supplements are steroids though).

Supplements are not bad for you when used correctly. Besides all supplements tell you to consult your doctor before taking it.

Of course you get the same benefits if not better from eating natural foods, but it can be very expensive! Specially if your a student or in school.

I consume over 200g of protein a day spread over 5-6 meals. Trying to consume that much protein with chicken, turkey and fish etc would just drain my pockets so I have to use Protein drinks to "supplement" my diet.

Supplements are also there for convenience. If your a working man like me you haven't got time to prepare your meals to eat throughout the day, so again that's where supplements come in handy.

I cant believe this is still debated.....The No. 1 best supplement is a healthy diet!!!!!!!!

There is nothing wrong with supplements and when used properly they will improve your current conditioning.....

Professional athletes are educated more than ever about nutrition and supplementing.......I know a **** load of professional athletes and every one of them is on a very strict diet and supplement program....they start you off in collegiate programs and continue from there.....

If there is any fool out here who believes that any paid athlete is not on a supplement program than you deserve yourself.....
