Any guys here that train in the gym have insomnia? ive had it for about 4-5 years. If any guys have it on this forum, how do you deal with it with training at the gym etc? i train 4 days a week at the boxing gym, 3 days on the weights, it is very hard with insomnia though.

ah **** mate that's unfortunate for you. I have the same problem. I have been doing rotating shift work for 14 years. I have taken all kinds of different sleeping pills over the years on and off and the benefits aren't huge. Sometimes if you take them too often they can be addictive. on night's i get 4 hrs. sleep a day- no matter what, there is no solution to it except in my case i probable need to quit my job. It does make training the extra harder though as you tend to feel a little sapped for energy by the end of it all

before you try any of the sleeping pills like ambien or whatever else that has diminishing effects and is possibly habit forming...

try zma, melatonin, valerian root, and lastly GABA. thats in order of what you should try first. GABA is debatably addictive but i hear it works wonders on recovery.

if one thing doesnt work add the next on the list to your sleepy time stack.

i take zma and melatonin an hour before i get in bed and i can sleep 8 hours pretty nicely. life is just better with quality sleep.

I would agree to lay off the sleeping pills speaking from experience. Trouble with valerian and products like those is that if you have been taking strong sleeping pills for a while you can get used to high powered drugs to get you to sleep so that lighter over the counter medications literally have no effect on you at all- they are not strong enough. HOwever in "aftermath's" case i would be following your advice and definetely starting on less stronger stuff and hopefully sticking to them.
              good advice!

i thought i had it but after a day of HARD training, working at my job, and school i hit the sack so quick. i guess if you keep your body busy the whole day, it will eventually give into fatigue.

                    Same here bro,

Sometimes I end up lying in bed for 2 hours or more trying to get to sleep
