yeah man...if your schedule still allows you six to eight hours of sleep at night + that three o clock run then go for it...otherwise...
you might need to wait till you wake up...and do a quick fartlik(spelled wrong)-this is like one to two miles with sprint intervals of like thirty seconds thrown in.

It is a bit anti-social and unnecessary. Tyson ran at 4am but he was a full time pro with huge prospects who went back to sleep shortly afterwards. I think 6am is more ideal. Even then you need to go sleep at 11 which is quite early but a necessary sacrifice if you want success. I still socialise and I am flexible on weekends but weekdays it is 6-7am indeed!

I noticed you also said is it too late. If you are serious about boxing then why would you be up at that time? Fighters only train like that when they have world title fights on a different time zone's primetime. If you ask me then I think it is too early and too late depending on whether you are a bedtimer or night owl. In either case it is too extreme.

Just came back from a run and it's 3:32 here. Best time for me cause i work till 3-4 am depending on the day. So when the weather is good i just run back from work.

I like running during the night, it's quiet. But i had cops pull up to me quite a few times. I guess they see a guy running on the street this late at night and they think i might be up to something. But by now most of them know me, so it's cool.

Yea thats funny. I have to open the gym at 5, so I get there at 4:45. I run in the morning at 3. It was tuff to start out but by the 4th time it wasnt so bad. I usually get up at 3, go right to the pantry and get a nature valley granola bar, and drink a glass of water, stretch/warm-up(for 20+ minutes) and off I go. I used to do L.S.D.(Long Slow Distance/7 min miles) in the morning. I now started to do some intervals in the am. The only real problem with intervals is that I almost take a nap every day from a 20 min all the way too an hour. Plus some of the cops were I live are bastards. Very strange that early. Not a soul out. I quit using my nano so I could here everything, its almost scary that early. Oh yea get some kind of flashing light and reflective vest. Good Luck

Anti-social and unneccesary ?? how you work that one out?

it's not anti-social unless he's listening to an iPod shouting out rap lyrics. It's 3am it's quiet, he's not hurting anyone he's just going for a run.

              ------

              anyways
nah it ain't too early/late if you get your 6 hours sleep beforehand and give your body chance to wake up (maybe have an efferescent pick-me-up drink) and stretch-off and warmups.

plus on the upside, a morning run is nice and quiet and rarely any chavvy youngsters on the streets to give you hassle.

go for it dude but take in any pointers made in this thread
              (excluding rafael's cos hes a ****)
