  • Broken Bone Risk Level....

Noob alert - but a friend and I are interested in using some mitts purely for workout purposes. We don't want to do any serious boxing training (at this point at least) or contact work.

How high is the risk for breaking a wrist or a hand if we get the proper equipment and just go use the mitts? Will watching the videos and reading about form and so on be sufficient to allow us to do the workouts without ruining ourselves?

Should be fine as long as you keep serious and dont start ****ing around, as soon as you start ****in about things will start going wrong, just like anything. With proper equipment you should be fine.

Make sure you use wraps. Get the longest wraps you can, bind your hands, and make sure you go 3-4 inches down your wrists so your hand can't bend.

Wrap down 3-4 inches and have the end of the wrap right at the joint between your wrist and hand. Also make sure your wraps are tight around your hand but DON'T let your pinkie metacarpal bone pull down relative to the other ones (ie too tight it folds in) otherwise you can be in a world of pain. I know from experience o_o
