  • Morning Roadwork

Hey guys. Ive been boxing for quite some time now and just recently I had to move my roadwork to the morning. I will have to be doing it before school and I want to know if I should eat anything before I go for my run or if I should do it fasted. So again when I wake up around 5 AM, should I eat nothing and then eat breakfast after, or what?

I ask this because i heard that running fasted could burn muscle instead of fat.

I'm not sure about the muscle burning part but I do know that you will experience some cramps if you run without having eaten.

i had to do the same change in the beginning of the summer due to my schedule and yeah u want to have a light meal in the morning like oatmeal. gives you the necessary energy in the morning to keep going, especially after 6-8+ hrs of sleep without eating.

if you eat you should give your stomach some time to digest what you ate...like an hour or so is what i usually do...but my mornings arent that early usually six or seven oclock depending on the day. i usually just eat like a slice of bread with peanut butter on it...and a banana...
        bananas help relieve cramps..

i dont eat before roadwork (well maybe a bananna at the most) because when i start pushing myself - really putting effort in i usually spew it back up. I'd keep the eating to a bare minimum unless of course u leave a good half hour to an hour for it to digest before running

the advice i know is that you should eat something small early in morning and wait at least 20 or 30 minutes before workout. that way you do not get dizzy or nausious(sp?).

i never work out in morning but it makes sense to me.
