I'm pretty new to boxing so I'm more concerned just at the minute about my physical condition, so I'm one of the few you're probably talking about.. I'm sure once I'm fit as a fiddle that my priorities will change. But yeah, alot of people seem to think biceps win fights and **** so agree'd.. good thread.

I box. I am also a personal trainer so I train at two different gyms and do roadwork as well. Basically I work out 6 days a week and take Sundays off. I haven't fought yet, but I do spar regularly. So, technically I am "sub-novice" which sounds pretty whack, but my goal is to win the NY Golden Gloves at Novice.
The NY golden Gloves is really special, because the finals are held at Madison Square Garden and the history is richer than it is in most other states. I am not entering this January, but aim to enter a year from January (2010) at 165 pounds. Between Dec/January '09 and the Gloves a year later, my trainer and I have devised a plan where I will fight 8-9 club events to get the maximum fight experience possible without inadvertently pushing myself into the open category (over 10 fights).
Right now, I am just trying to be patient, work on my technique, spar, get in greeeat shape, cut all my excess fat off of my body and stay as close to 165 as possible without killing myself over it. Those golden gloves with the diamond in 'em are my goal right now, and if I succeed, I will contemplate taking it to the next level...Last edited by mspiegelo; 07-10-2008, 11:52 AM.
