  • Amateur Headgear - Cheek Protectors or NO Cheek Protectors

I imagine the cheek protectors in amateur headgear doesn't offer THAT much protection and could possibly add discomfort and obscure your view....

What do the guys who compete in the amateurs here think?!?

I'm looking at the following Ringside Competition Headgear- one with cheek guards, one without:

    1. w/ cheek protectors:

    2. and without:

    Your thoughts please!!!

There is little difference when excepting a blow with or with out cheek protectors. I had both while fighting and never had a problem with obstructed view. I would believe that the cheek protectors are to limit cuts as much as possible in case of a clash of heads. Believe me, youll get a swollen eye with or with out the cheek protector.........Rockin'

I prefer ones without the cheek protectors. They don't do much and sometimes obscure your vision.
