    Looped/Whirled Straights

Im not talking about a HUGE "get knocked the **** out" loop. I mean slight/moderate loops like Baer, Marciano, Tyson. Theyre stronger than normal straights, but by how much? Id say about 2-4 times? I know a looped/whirled jab is WAY stronger than a regular one. When I do them I feel more of a complete wieght shift than with a normal straight line punch. I noticed that its barely used by boxers now a days. Maybe thats why theres so many ****ty fights were boxers win by points instead of hurting each other.

That's because when you throw one you get off balance and are easy to counter. I mean unless you are leonard or robinson stick to correctly thrown right straights. Looping right might carry more weight with it, but it is not as accurate(again unless you are some boxing great a la Robinson) and it's actual range where it carries the weight of your body behind it is lesser then your straight right.

I mean it looks nice, but you could be in real trouble if you use it against someone who is good at countering.

Less accurate? Wouldent it be more because its heading in two directions (forward and to the right/left) because of its arch? Youll only be unbalanced if you miss. I think the loops have a more chance of hitting than missing. I think the loops would be good for medium range because instead of hitting in a straight line to the face, youll be hitting at an arch that can nail both the center (face) and sides of the opponents head (out of sight).

No, because they are easier to see and as a punch it takes more time to throw.

depends they all have their place, like correctly timing a jab you can come over with an overhand right and land flush. But you don't want to be throwing them all the time, but more as an unpredictable motion.

are we talking about overhand rights, or like a more tilted loop?

@BB: Theyre barely a fraction of a second slower. Theyre only easy to see if you lead with them. You cant loop a jab unless u have the left shoulder ****ed back. So that only leaves a right lead. A regular right lead looped or not is gonna be telegraphed regardless. Men that use the loop/whirling technique have great records. Tyson 50 W - 44 KOs, Baer 72 W - 53 KOs, Marciano 49 W - 43 KOs.
