  • 2 months to get into shape.

Okay, here's the story. I'm 16, very athletic and a lover of sports in general. I think boxing would be a good way to build some confidence and get myself in better shape than I'm in now. I have to work full time this summer if I want to go to university when I graduate from high school, so I want to take take the summer as a test period to see if I have the dedication to join a gym in September. What I need are some workout suggestions to get me in the best possible shape for boxing/boxing training by September.

    Current Weight: 151.4 lbs
    Height: 5'10

I have a weight bench and a **** load of running trails around my area that I can use, free time is from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on weekdays and all day on the weekends.

Thanks for any help and tips in advance.

Go for a 1/2 hour jog, 3 rounds bag, Burpee conditioning, interval training, shadow work, push-ups, sit-ups etc...

The ability to recover between rounds is very important so start running every 2-3 days, work up to 5 miles or 45minutes 5 miles should only take you 30-40 minutes any slower is too slow.

Conditioning is THE most important, if you cant work hard and last a round you are ****ed, so do some conditioning every 2-3 days, if you have a heavybag a great conditioning workout is:

burpees 30 secs, hit the bag 30 secs, burpees...(over & over) for four 3 min rounds with 1 min rest. As you get in better shape reduce rest times and/or add some push-ups. I prefer the bag but shadowboxing works good too. Theres other good conditioning ideas at rosstraining.com, you have to work very hard during conditioning.

Its always best to be able to take a punch to the ribs so work your core hard 3 times a week. Your '6 pack' will help protect your solar plexus and your obliques provide padding for your ribs and they twist your body (important for power).

Train your neck, wrists and hands as well as do the regular calinsthenics
