a few sparring sessions at another gym

Hey folks i went sparring at this other gym i didnt have a mouth piece with me or a head guard so i was a lil nervous but i sparred this middlewieght anyway by the way im super featherwieght myself.
He had 15 years expierance on me and his dad use to be a pro boxer so he was well trained he frustrated me a bit because i cudnet get my jab going or get inside his long reach.
I learned about the dangerous of going to the body by taking a right hand on the jaw as you will see in the second video i was slightly dazed but i didnt let it bother me.
I did land some gd body shots though a couple of hooks and jabs but i cudnet quite hit him on the head much but at least i landed something lol.
First vid as you can see i jabbed him to the body at the begining then tried to work my jab.

Second vid you can see i took a few good shots sometimes in sparring its hard to stop your power in a punch well he caught me with a nice right hand right on the jaw at least i dont have a glass jaw.

I showed alot of flaws and showed my ring rust advice/criticism is appreciated.
By the way im the smaller one.
Soon i will have a pretty good sparring vid up here of me sparring someone my own hieght hehe.

That gym looks pretty nice. Anyway, onto the spar.

You do what I always get told I do, hunch your shoulders, this consumes energy and makes it harder to throw punches correctly, kind of annoying because I have no idea how to stop it besides consciouslly thinking not to. The only told the shoulders should hunch is when you throw a jab or backhand straight, they shoulder should raise in order to protect your jaw. You were pretty good on your feet to be honest, don't you get tired though? You are constantly jumping which is a good thing for movement and if you don't get really tired from it that's pretty cool. At 1:09 you threw a left hook, kind of, in future try and keep your backfoot grounded abit more when you throw it and screw in the front leg (like you did), this way if you miss you're less likely to swing to the side and leave yourself open which is what happend.

End of the day, we can sit here and criticise everything but anybody who's been in the ring knows that it's a totally different sport to boxing on the bag. It's really easy to be scientific and a perfect strategist and say "you should have done this, this and this when he did this" when you're watching it on a video but in the ring it's far more difficult. Best of luck with it all.

Agreed he just walked around the ring.

Good to see that your now allowed to spar. But, what kind of gym allows you to spar a middleweight with no mouthgaurd or headgear?

You didn't throw many and your shoulders looked way too high. Jumping up and down means ou are never set for your punches so its easy to know when you are going to throw. And if you get hit while jumping its lights out. Work on throwing your left hook. The one at 1:10 was embarassing.

Well done for getting in their and sparring.

This was touch sparring, jut very light tapping, we do the same thing occasionally at my club, but if you were hitting hard enough to be dazed then you need to be wearing your headgear.

Is it an actual club you're boxing at, or a gym that happens to do boxing on the side?

its ok, but i think its better if you put some head gear on and go at it hard men, touching sparring will give you a false feeling of a fight.
You look to be on good shape, so try throwing more punches, but still dont understimate the headgear even if its light sparring, not so much because of the punching but headbutts are pretty common and ending up with a cut on a sparring just sucks.

Well just my 2 cents, keep up the good work

IDK if this is right or not.. But you seem to be jumping constantly.. I think its pointless and your losing energy..

                  /

i only watched the second video ,

you seem to know what your doing and have oppertunity to improve,

if you rewatch the second vid you will notice that you dont seem to land a jab or a punch , mabey 1 or 2 and heres why:

you throw to miss, you seem to keep throwing your jab out just to comfort your slef rather than to do damage or score points, you were throwing the jab to pen air, when your out of range or just hit his gloves,
he was doing the same thing by just bringing his hands together to block.

you need to look at him when your sparring and think , how am i going to land shots?

instead of flinging the jab, mix it up, lean to the left and throw good upwards jab aiming to puch through his gaurd, fint jab and then step farwud and punch through gaurd, sudely duck and throw a jab right , corner him and let the puches go a little, jab lean back jab, step farwud an jab, walk camly (dont boucn so much) and then fling right hand unexpectledy, crouch then stand straight and unexpectdely fligh a right hand, jab jab jab,
                  upercut right hand,

try stuff like a sed above, ust make stuff up, make it difficult for him, create openings and be creative kinda thing,
aim for his head, u wernt reaching so next time jab and stepfarwuds and want to jab him

stuff like that for advice i wud say. just mix it up and be unpredictble , slow and quicken pace as you feel, louse some rhythem,
                  make it difficult for him

Thx for the comments i was nervous and i hadnt been in the ring for about 2 months i really did show my ring rust.
I hunged / bounced to much which confsumed alot of my energy on the 2nd vid i was up 7 or 8 rounds so i was kinda tired.
It was only a light sparring session but he caught me with a heavy right hand when i went for the jab to the body.
I will get up my good sparring session i had with someone my own hieght it was pretty good i just waiting on the vid.
i do alot of full sparring but i havent been as active as i used to be so im trying to get my ring rust off.
anyway heres a vid of me on the angle bag to.
