wtf...it looks like the kind of punch a kid having his first streetfight would throw.....in fact i think i had better technique than that in my first streetfight.....

he could add even more power if he sprung into it and immediately dropped his back foot as an achor.
but what a begginner should get from this is how he uses his whole body to a better degree than your average guy.
good stuff in general here.
btw, that is close to what we call a cannon punch.

you guys should definitely not start under estimating this punch. The fact that you would think this punch is horrible technique and in-effective is just wrong. This is a boxing forum and you guys are comparing Freestyle techniques to boxing techniques. That is where the problem lies. Have you ever seen a truly effective boxer with a pure boxing style in MMA? No. Why? because a boxer's stance and punches are completely inadequate for freestyle. IN boxing you try to hide the body and stand towards the side. You do that in MMA and you are going to get rocked simple and plain. The wide stance (squaring up) which is so frowned upon in boxing is praised and taught and is soo practical in freestyle (you can thai kick, knee, sprawl soo much easier, faster and more effective). The boxing stance and everything about how you move in boxing is just not practical in MMA. So to everyone that made fun of Liddel's punch I feel sorry that you would associate or compare what you think is right in boxing to MMA and just for ****s and giggles I've been a Muay thai fighter and Freestyle fighter since I was 17 and have been practicing both since I was much younger (runs in the family). So I have some inkling to what I am talking about. I saw nothing wrong with Liddel's punch whatsoever.

liddells punch is fine for the ufc. but, unless ur hands are considerably faster than ur opponents, this is just not an intelligent trick to pull more than once a fight or sparring session. it's just to looping to be effectivley on a regular basis
