  • Balance while throwing

Anyone got any good balance exercises you do. I keep noticing when throwing my right hook and sometimes left my balance shifts and rapidly and I gotta quickly adjust my body to get back in my stance. What do you guys do to keep balance while throwing hooks and uppers exercises ? comes in time ?

sorry no one has replied, im not expert in balance, but what i CAN tell you is, follow up with a jab after your right hook... try that and it should put you right back in your stance as well

The key to balance is to throw from your feet and hips. Sounds like you're focusing too much on your arms and hands. Shift the weight from one foot to the other every punch you throw. This way, one punch will set up the next punch indefinitely, even when you miss.

i have a habit of leaning forward and putting my weight on my front foot.

My trainer makes me stand side on to a line of black tape stuck to the mirror. I shadow box and have to keep checking that my body and position don't go forward from that line.

        I drill that.

I have to imagine a pole is running from me head to toe like a kebab skewer and i can rotate my body, arms and stuff but my head and back stay in alignment...anyway... maybe this helps

Thanks for the tips. My coach has me put one foot on the other and twist and also has me do some other things. My hooks are what get me all outta wack. I feel that I'm pretty light on my feet when jabbing and throwing straights but its just when I hook my foot pivots and when I'm at fool rotation my leg lifts and moves to either side. Is this by a long shot acceptable or am I just focusing to much on messing up.
