  • I ****ed up my left arm =( Thinking about going South Paw!!

So today I am hitting the mitts with one of our coaches, Pernell.

I have the jab down, the right hook and right uppercut.. So we where focusing mainly on my left side since my left hook is horrible and I wont even get into my left uppercut.

Anyway, I'm hitting the mitts and BAM! I throw a left hook and I feel pain on my shoulder then Pernell is like do it again.. BAM! I threw it again and it hurt a little bit more.. so I do it again and again and again until I finally throw it right.

By this time my shoulder is thumping... anyway.. long story short.. My **** hurts.. I can barely move it right now and I'm thinking whether I should go southpaw since I throw the punch a lot better in that stance.

My cousin did and I guess it helped him out..

Or should I just keep at it? After throwing it and throwing it I'm bound to get it right... right?
    Anyway.. two things..
One) Home remedies for my arm... got any?
Two) should I switch my stance or should I keep trying?

It's all about what you feel is right for you. If you feel more comfortable as a southpaw, go for it. But don't try fighting southpaw just because you think your left arm is week.

Personally i am ring handed, so when i started boxing i automatically though that the standart stance was the way to go. But i never felt comfortable sparring, i have about the same power in both hands. One day when i was hitting the bag and one of the trainer at the gym told me to try to hit the bag as a southpaw. At first it felt weird because i wasn't used to it but i quickly realized i was doing much better as a southpaw.

That was about 8 years ago and to this day i am still a southpaw. I can still box in a normal stance but it feels a bit akward and my combinations aren't as fluid.

So, just try it out but don't change to southpaw juste because you have problems with your left hook.
