How are you throwing it? Do you have a trainer?

Im also orthodox, my left hook isn't great but it has improved. Its difficult and a long thing to explain maybe try youtubing it.

I am working on this myself at the moment. I don't lift weights but I shaddow box with weights and this has helped me heaps. Just make sure you have the technique correct first because you don't want to develop poor muscle memory. Another thing is focus on your left side more in training. I find the right easier so I just do that more often without thinking. I have to stop slacking off and work on the punches I'm not as good at.

        three things:

your left shoulder should be in front of your fist

if you point your left foot foreward, lifting your heel off the floor slightly and anglingling your heel roughly 45 degrees left can allow you to dig in more with the ball of your foot

I found that having my palm facing me as my left hook is landing adds more power
