Hell no.....I started at 28....the older you are the more mature you will be when it comes to training and discipline....I was worried I was too old when I started as well. I have been training seriously for about 6 months and have improved drastically. I plan on going as far as i can in boxing no matter what anyone says....people who tell you that you are too old are the ones whose cup of water has always been half empty. These are the same people who in life, have always been afraid to take chances and end up thinking themselves out of opportunity's.

As with anything you decide to do in your life, keep your self disciplined and bust your balls, good things will happen!

yUOP.. THE OLDER YOU ARE,, THE MORE SENSE OF URGENCY...

IT MAKES YOU TRAIN BETTER AND YOUR MIND IS VERY OPEN ALLOWING YOU TO PICK UP THINGS VERY QUICKLY.... BUT THATS THE THING.. YOU MUST TRAIN HARD BECAUSE YOU MIGHT BE AT THE PEAK OF YOUR PRIME...SO YOU WANNA GET STARTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE..

i agree with the other dudes. i started to get serious about training around 20 years old. i also think you pick up on things quicker when you start later. you don't need a coach to drill certain things into your head, or even explain as much to you because your level of understanding is that much more developed than a kid who is say 14 years old (or younger).

Even though you pick things up faster at an older age, those who have an early start in boxing as kids have their muscles developed over the years for boxing. It takes years for your body to develop for boxing kids who start at like 10 and box all the time will be built for boxing and boxing only. It is real hard to fight people who started at a young age when you started at 21 you are not developed for the sport as they are and they will behead you.

sorry but thats not true, look at ray sanchez he had 300 ama fights and like around 30 pro fights, while julio cesear jr has 1-3 ama fights and around 30 pro fights and jr beat him by ko. obviously if your starting to box around 33 years old or something like that it might be late for you to do anything big. but 21, 22 you got enough time. Its nice to start when your 10 or 14 but its not the end of the world if you didn't, you can still do it. Nate campbell started late to alot of fighters started late. I heard mr thompson the guy who is going to fight for the world title against wlad started when he was 29!

40 is the new 30 so its not to late to start.

I'm going to start training at a local gym soon and I'm 24. Never boxed in my life.

I'm not going into it expecting to be any good, but I guess it's more about what you get out of it right? Training, being disciplined etc........... Healthy living really.

I'm a drumming teacher and I always say to my students the best attitude is to try to be as good as YOU can possibly be. Not everyone can be as good as Floyd or Witter, but you can have a good time trying!

                    Good luck fella!
