I cried after a sparring session....

The first time I had my ass kicked in sparring was my first sparring session, as the first round was ending the mother***er was 10% short of going all out... mostly on my chin. I did not feel like crying, because i discovered I had a good chin (bigger, more experienced guy teeing off your head and not going down...i felt tough), but man did i have a headache that night!

Another time was due to lack of conditioning (had only recently got back to the gym after 1 year of no boxing). I ended up being too tired to throw, it would have been a TKO. Even this one did not really hurt my spirit, although the other guy was less experienced than i was. just told me to go out and run more miles.

The last one did, it was a good session, and I knew the guy was better than me, a bit shorter, same weight (145-150), but I was keeping up, it was close, then I started landing some more shots and got excited, forgot about protecting my torso, the guy was landing his right to my plexus again and again until I had to take a knee. I felt so ****** and arrogant, my partner really made me pay for thinking too high of myself as a boxer. I remember thinking how awesome it was that I was landing 2 punches at a time, and thinking that pain at the stomach was nothing, until i was like wow cant really breathe that easy.. feel like throwing up... Massive humble pie for me, i used my brain much more when sparring since then.

Boxing is a tough sport.... you are only 15, so go easy on yourself, train harder and you will only get better. I ate two hooks in my 1st sparring sessions and didn't like it too....

He wanted to push you to your limits, now any guy you fight at your weight class will be a walk in the park almost when compared to this bigger guy. Don't make your coach think he was wrong about you, go back and train hard for a few months, then request to spar with the same guy who beat you, to see how much you improved.

you've given me the best answer, and actualy the biggest motivation, i can give u some points if i knew how,

**** him. The only shame would be in not going back. If getting your ass kicked comes easy -- without an emotional toll on you -- you're in the wrong sport.

well i would say my childhood is pretty tough, and i thought boxing would be my only way out, u know escaping from all my hardships, but when i got beaten up taht badly, i jus gave up, i thought i wont be good at anything, but mentally i'm fine now, i'm going back as soon as poissble, its jus gona be emberrasing for me, i dont want my coach to think i'm an emotional person i don't want my sparring partenr to laugh at me either, even though he's a good person. lol
