Hell, dont worry so much. If its your first time sparring its unlikely that you'll be put in with a world beater. Just someone who is hopefully at a similar level.
Alot of beginners prefer the southpaw stance, I used to, many novices find it easier to lead with their best hand so theres a fair chance that he'll be right handed, so his left hand may well be less of a worry than you think, but watch for his right hook if you keep a low left lead.
As for keeping your left foot outside his right foot, you'll likely end up circling to the left ( which is natural for an orthodox fighter ), you may find it tougher landing your jab especially if your sparring partner has a high guard because you'll be jabbing to the left of his lead hand, rather than between his hands if you were to circle to the right.
If you get really close to your sparring partner let go with the right hand to body and head, right hooks and uppercuts are easier to land on a southpaw up close than an orthodox fighter because their left elbow is not so much in the way.
Let us know how your first spar goes.

I always do that in sparring sessions. The word around the gym is i can take down heayweights. Being a Welterweight, thats what it does for the reputation.

a nice point getter against a southpaw from the orthodox stance.. is using the your left to parry his right jab.. and then bringing your parrying hand straight into a jab.. it should land nearly every time
