Latest Age Before Its Too Late To Make It

I have been boxing for only one year and i am 20. i am just about to go into my first amateur fight. my trainers say i have incredible skill, fitness, speed blah blah blah to make it but im just worried that i started all this too late. i mean realistically a boxing carrer will fade by the tie you get to 33 onwards. you may still be good but never the same. so im just thinking to myself i have 13 years to become a champion. considering how long i will have to stay in amateur boxing for and tournaments etc etc, by the time i turn pro i may only have a few years left in me.

What is your guys opinions on whether it is to late for me to make it pro. i dont want cheer me ups or false motivation i just want good advice and realistic views as what you guys tell me i will listen to and decide from there.

i dont want boxing to be a hobby, i want it to be my carreer, but i want a decent carreer out of it, not just a couple of years.

Also does anyone know any boxers who came into the game late and how to go about making it to the top when time is running out.

i never thought i'd have to say "when time is running out" at 20 lol.

    Thanks guys

lol.. yea boxing is a tough sport and best when started young.

But If I'm correct I think Antonio Tarver started late, And was also addicted to Crack, and took numerous breaks. (someone clear that up if they know better)

Hopkins was jailed for sometime.. and we see how good he is.. He's an Alltime Great.

Arron Pryors son is 29 and he only had 30 Am Fights.

Jameel McCline has made some money *(which should have been invested)* and gets fights ever so often to stay known among boxing fans somewhat. Not to mention having less than 10 (if any) AM fights.

Camacho Jr. hasn't had any AM fights but his career is being pushed slowly and his dad is also a mexican legend.

HERES what it comes down to. DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BOX.

Train hard... get in great shape... get your stamina up as high as possible and then push for it to go farther.. Reach high levels in every aspect you can think of.

And most of all. Try to get a Good trainer who cares about the sport and that has had some PRO (or atleast AM) fighting Experience.

And then TRAIN HARD some more.. Watch fights.. Become dedicated. And It won't be too late. Definitely not Too late.

      Jeez, that's me screwed then, I'm 34!!

It's funny you made this thread cos I was going to make one to ask if I was leaving it too late to be an amateur at 34!

But I know that you're looking at boxing as your main career, whereas for me it would be, well, amateur.

20 is not to young......I think the hardest part about turning pro when you are a little older is not your shape or if your body can take the abuse, it is weather you can dedicate your life to the training regimine, lets face it by the time you are going to be ready to turn pro money or a family may be more important to you than spending 5 hours a day in the gym....

Age means nothing.....it is all about where your responsibilities are.....

Ruslan chagaev started at the age of 20 with boxing and he is heavyweight champ now.
I think if you got talent like u just said, it isn't to late.
