    Can This Stuff really happen?

I was wondering if sparring 1-3 times a week would lead me to having brain damage in the future. I am barley 17 and No way am I willing to give up my health for anything. I spar with 16oz gloves and a very well padded headgear. I would say I get tagged in the head about 4-8 times a round, but not with anything hard enough to shock me or rock me back. At the end of every month I take 1 full week off of sparring to let my head recover and rest.

Am I headed towards brain damage in the future? Please share your thoughts on this topic.

That whole brain damage **** seems to be over-exaggerated, although it happens, it's just not to the extent that everyone is lead to believe by the media or other people for that matter.

I spar 75% of the time I goto the gym for atleast three rounds, usually six or eight. I am a small guy at 132 and I am usually sparring with guys much bigger then me. I've been boxing 13 years, and I'm fine =)

Sparring sessions are not to go in and **** all out. You go in there to get work and practice.

I think the majority of brain damage cases come from pros who have had lengthy professional careers.
