    I eat a protein bar every day about 2 hours before dinner. Is this bad for me? is it too much for me too have one every day? It has 30 grams of protein and 300 calories. Help would be appreciated!

      Calm down man you are scaring me....!....

      here is the rule of thumb....1 gram of protein per lb of body weight to maintain a positive nitrogen balance....anything less than this your body will begin to catabolize and use your muscle for enegy....If you train hard or want to gain muscle bump it up to 1.5 - 2 grams of protein per lb of body weight....

        Woah, that would mean me eating between 220.5 grams & 294 grams a day! Surely it can't be that much.....can it? Just sounds a helluva lot.

          sure you aint confusing kilos and lbs

          1-2 per lb a day would mean 300-400 hundre grams for me thats damn much

            You're supposed to have around 1 to 1.5grams of protein for every 1kg of body weight per day.If you weigh around 80kg for example you should be having between 80 -120grams of protein. So if anything you're not having nearly enough. Have one when you wake up, one after training and one as a before or after dinner snack. and try and find one with less calories. 300 seams quite alot really.

              I just started reading a book on the subject and .8 to 1.6 per KILO (2.2lbs) is all that is needed for people heavily into sports. Otherwise the xtra protein CAN just be stored as fat. Ive experienced this 'storing' myself.
