well I don't need to worry about my studies. I am doing a full time sports and exercise science course, I am top of the class and get top marks in all units, my plan is to go to university in my last year I will be 21. The same year as 2012.

Because of my course, sport and training for it is of high importance so that is no problem.

On top of my boxing skill sessions with a trainer 3 times per week. (sparring, pad work, drills, heavy bag, shadowboxing all with trainer)

I train at home on tuesday, thursday and saturday in boxing.

    I generally do this:

    3x3 shadow boxing
3x3 heavy bag (working on technique)
4 x 1 power boxing (pure power shots)
5x 30 seconds punch out drills (all out for 30 seconds)
    3x3 speed bag
    5x3 jump rope

I do that 3 times a week on the days I do not go to the boxing gym, I do this at home. In the evening

And on top of all this I have one max strength workout a week, one explosive strength workout a week, one interval training session, one GPP session (circuit training),

I also train my neck every other day and train my core every day

I am not concerned with my fitness whatsoever, I was just wondering if I am spending enough time with my trainer. I learn from the trainer then practice the next day. the following I show how I have improved

    thanks a lot

TBH in the amatuer game its mostly yourself that needs to do the work but your trainer obviously needs to guide you.
But dont worry you wil be alright but i do think you should train more often evne if its just 1 hour i mean come on you can make time 1 hour a day to train also running is the most important thing so do more running.

DO NOT TRAIN EVERYDAY... thats just dumb..if anyone argues..they dumb also..your body must have recover time...sure u can get away w training everyday..long as a totally diff muscle is trained..with adequate rest time..their is a such thing as overtraining in wich case ur muscles start to deteriorate instead of gettin stronger...one on one is fine twice or so a week as long as u go home and work on those skills over the next few dayz...practice exactly what he taught and get those fundamentals down pact...ur core should b worked on everyother day as well

sterling - train more??? I don't see how it's possible for me to train much more! Did you see my last post??? I train for around 3-4 hours every day except sunday. It's only the time with the trainer I am concerned about!

kbpoetree- I have sundays off too recover so that's alright, also as far as strength and conditioning are concerned, I have scheduled it so I am not training max strength on consecutive days etc.

I also train my core everyday except sunday. I alternate between heavy (weighted) and light (just bodyweight)

and no, I disagree with the running, interval sprints and work capacity training is much better, more and more fighters train like this now, a boxing fight is a sprint not a marathon, especially in the amateurs.

MMA fighters train like this and more and more boxers are starting to

hey i did say that he shud give himself time of also and running is very important if you cant do that then you wont go far.
Anyways dont listen to what other people do just do what u feel is working.

I run intervals once a week like 4x 400 metres etc. running 6 miles a day is pointless for a 3x2minute fight. You'd be surprised at the number of boxing opting to run intervals and do other forms of conditioning such as burpees rather than running.

i train 4-7 days a week.. depending how sore the body gets from the workouts.. too many days off in a row is never good, making a routine weekly helps... but ya, 4-7 days a week in the gym normal training, spar 2 times a week on average. 4 rounds each time minimal...

then as for with a trainer guiding me.. my gym kinda worked like ur old one.. one trainer and a TON of members.. only like 20-30 actual amatuers.. and like maybe 50 ppl who spar... but tons of ppl just to get in shape. my trainer sells his 1 on 1 time.. he is great with one on ones, at faIR prices, and also has clases multiple times a day that his members can take for free... just pad work is rare unless u get the 1 on 1's, then its mainly padwork...

but to answer that i train randomly with the trainer, but he will always be giving me advice n getting me to do certain things in the gym... i make an effort each time to work WITH my trainer, i never just come in the gym and do my own thing ignoring him, its his gym i roll with him...

and to be honest i think your a lil under average for training, depending how many hours per day u put in... hourwise.. a solid 10 hours a week in the gym is a minimal

well I train around 12 hours a week boxing with 7.5 coming from home: heavy bag, skipping, shadow boxing, speed bag and 4.5 coming from working with a trainer. I also spar 3 times a week the same session with the trainer.
