  • Tall With Short Arms

hi this is a strange one but,

im a tall guy 6ft 2 or 3 and im only 15 so i spar with people a lot older than me. the thing is i have quite short arms , and i strugle and find myself having to get insied against older and bigger guys, my trainers say use ur jab and ur right cos im tall but it seems when ever i try to do so im caught on the way in by a bigger and lonnger arm, that hits my hard in the face on the way in.

so my question is, how can i land clean shots to the head against older guys who are taller and heavier and bigger, i dont strugle im a much better boxer, ive just started seniors, i cant seem to hit the older guys, i feint, i jab to body, i move, i tend to throw hooks against small guys because its eaiser and i also use my reach,

basically how can i land shots against taller bigger booxers who block with firm defense, also im a counter puncher, how do i fight a guy in sparring who is also a counter puncher, as we tend not to trow much each

    thanx

try throwing 4 or 5 punch combos, 1 or 2 of em will land.

against the older guys, you just gotta get use to them sooner of later, youll get better and be able to hit em..just keep at it..and against a counter puncher, id say feint more and work off the feint

Your trainer would have (or should have) already told you chin down, guard up, move your head. In general terms tall men move their head from the feet, short men do it from the waist. Tall men with short arms have to learn to do both. For you boxing is going to be much harder to learn compared with other men, and you will need to do many more drills. But it is like the old saying goes: Do the drills, get the skills.
