Running outside is a lot better and far more beneficial. When I first started running it was about late November time so it was pretty dark at night so I started running on the treadmill. The treadmill help me get to a pretty decent fitness level running wise but I felt it more when I started running outside and after a while I could really tell the difference. Then I went back to the treadmill as it was windy and raining heavily one night and I found I could do a lot more on the treadmill compared to last time even though I'd been running about the same distance on the road as I had the treadmill.

I've only just recently got back into long distance running and finding it quite difficult. Nearly 3 years have passed from when i completed my local half marathon (13 miles) but it was during regular training, running 3-4 times a week for upto an hour a time.

The only running i was previously doing was football (soccer) 2 times a week but was more sprint based although my stamina was fairly good to last the 90 minutes.

The past 2 weeks i've been doing 30 minute jogs upto 3 times a week but struggled early on. Any ideas why this might be? I will extend my running time to 45 minutes this week and see how i get on. Does the weather have much effect on my performance as it has been wildly cold lately.
