a 15 min warm up before a work out.. and a 15 min cool down after wards with the rope is great for u...

as far as length... you should step in the middle of the rope, and the handles should come up to your armpits....

after jumping enough, youll get the idea if it needs to be a hair longer or a hair shorter

I've got a leather rope and a plastic rope, each have there advantages and disadvantages. Leather ropes don't go around as quick but are heavier and harder to get round so they work your arms more. Plastic ropes go around quicker and are easier for doing tricks in my opinion but don't have any real weight. I'd suggest you use a plastic rope and if you want to add weight just attach weights to your wrists. Then you've got the best of both worlds. The weight of a leather rope and the speed of a plastic rope.

I prefer the plastic ropes. Great for speed and body movement.

I recommend anyone on the path of toning down/losing body weight to use one.

                - 5 minutes of skipping is the equivalent of 15 minutes running.

its actually every 8 minutes of skipping is equal to 10 minutes of jogging... depending on your intensity..
