Left Hook vs Right Hook

Ok now i started boxing at the age of 14, but actualy considered to go to a boxing gym at the age of 16. (i excersiced a lot at home during the 2 year span, and also ran outside)


now i have seen a lot of boxing videos, and all i hear is "Wow what a left hook"

never have i seen a fighter who has a powerful right hook.


could it be that most of the fighters with left hooks are naturally southpaws but fight right handed? A lot of people tell me ODLH is left handed but fights right handed to land power left jabs.

Now I myself am a southpaw, and when i would hit the pads, my dad would always commentate how my left hook is a machine gun and my dad would always wear a huge cloth around his wrists so i wouldnt break them lol.

Yea thats just my question. I just find Right hooks rare.

A right hook from an orthodox fighter is a difficult punch to land. The strong-side hook takes a long time to land, and it travels along a wide arc that makes it easy to slip or parry. A short right hook, however, is an indispensable part of an infighter's toolbox. Dempsey and Marciano had devastating right hooks.
