    Working abs every day

Is it true your not suppost to work your abs every day? Iv been doing 60 crunches 5 days a week since about september, and within the last week iv been getting a bad burning sensation in my lower abs. Any ideas?

If it is hurting now after 5 months. You won;t have anything to worry about if you are doing the same amount of reps as 5 months ago. If they are hurting try just simple cardio work like roadwork and if they hurt after that. Then you really need to rest.

Crunches are worthless. Do FULL sit-ups for true core strength.

I don't think crunches are worthless, but sit-ups are probably better for you, like CountPatron said. I have been doing ab work for over 7 months now and for me, full-core sit-ups are easier to do than crunches. For instance, I feel it more in my abs when I do 100 crunches as opposed to 100 sit-ups.

That being said, I remember my trainer telling me that the abdominal muscles are actually one of the few muscles in your body that can be worked almost daily (without negative results like overtraining). However, in your case, it seems like your abs need a rest, if you're still feeling pain in them from only 60 crunches in one day (and you've been doing it since September).

Really? I can do crunches all day long, but full sit-ups kill me around the 100 mark.

situps are horrible for your back..

theres a buttload of core exercises to choose from that dont involve the crunching motion

Wow yeah I didn't mean crunches sorry, sit ups, I have one of those ab boards and iv maxed it out so the thing is like completely slanted, but in addition to the situps I also do roadwork, thats my workout when im not at the gym, 2miles of roadwork then 60 situps. I did 20 today to ease back into it, ill keep you posted if anything else happens.

if your stomach muscles are hurting that is good, muscles grow by being damaged and then growing back stronger if i were you i would do sit ups 3 times a week but max out each one with full proper sit ups that hurt your stomach that way you will see improvment

                  pain is good
