hey lads


Got a quick drug awareness question lol. What kind of an effect does coke & extacy have on boxing - as in training & Fighting?? with minimal useage of around once every couple of months??

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that an occasional hit of X probably won't kill your career as a boxer -- unless, of course, it's detected in a drug screening or you get busted in a hot tub with a girl who turns out to be 15. Don't laugh; it happened to one of my best friends. And coke shrinks your penis. No, really.

Besides that, though, boxing is about discipline, first and foremost. The discipline that it takes to become a skilled boxer and to see a fight through until the end is forged in what you do OUTSIDE the ring. Eating habits, exercise routine, morning roadwork -- and, of course, staying off drugs.

Physically, occasional recreational drug use is not going to destroy you as a boxer. But drug use runs counter to everything the sport is about. Just my opinion; your mileage may vary.

The thing is is it starts out once every couple months, then once a month then all of a sudden one month you have 2 dances to go to and 2 sick house parties so it turns out your doing it every weekend this month. Honestly man i know way to many people who've gone down that road its not good. Forget boxing forget staying in shape man think of where your lifes goin, extasy and coke are the worst things out there

Please post it in the Boxing Talk Forum. The last thing we need here is more hero worship, or worse, another thread about how great/awful Tyson was.

Besides, Charlie's got a new vid. He'd kill Tyson and Tyson knows it.
