i never smoked cigarettes, but i used to smoke weed and did a lot of stuff in general that i probably shouldn't have. boxing isn't like a lot of other sports. i used to smoke weed, drink and party, yet was one of the captains of my hockey team in high school. i had no problem doing both. bottom line: you can't do that **** and box.
I quit smoking when I decided to seriously pursue boxing and training. I also changed my diet pretty drastically (though I don't follow it like a saint, I'm pretty consistent).

I quit cold turkey for boxing (im talkin cigs not actual cold turkey )
I just threw out the ashtrays and smokes and lighters. It helps if you think of it as a mental challenge because you have to be strong mentally for boxing. If Id have given in id have lost alot of respect for MYSELF. Its the first few days that are rough and it just gets easier. Just dont try to test yourself by having "only 1 smoke" because youll probably start again.
