  • Is throwing too many Right leads bad for elbow joints?

I'm noticing that when I throw straight rights in particular, my elbow joint seems to always clicky as I straighten it. It's kinda the same sort of sensation as when you crack you knuckles I guess.

I guess it could be because of improper technique since i've been training a lot at home but at the moment it happens even if i'm just sittin down and straighten my arm casually. And I normally take a lot of care to ensure my form is correct.

It generally isn't painful at all unless i really straighten my arm recklessly, but it's still kinda disconcerting and is making me hold back a bit when practicing.

I tried a quick search for other threads but most people seem to be simply complaining of pain, whereas my issue is really that this clicking seems very odd. Should I not be straightening my arm ever when I punch? Has anyone else ever experienced this kind of issue and if so did it go away by itself, or could you correct it somehow?

Hmmmm I "suffer" from this although it don't really hurt. I'm guessing you're quite young? I think I've read that joints click when your growing as the muscle is stretching and stuff?

      Can't back this up though.

I have considered those pills for joints though? Omega or fish oils? (not to sure of top of head.)

      AInt tried them though.

hmm This is a poorly worded first post.

u must have one poweful ass right hand swells!

anyway, right hand leads should be no different on ur joints than jabs, hooks, etc. its still a punch.

I am not a doctor but, i think the clicking noise you are hearing is the miniscus tendon being stretched over the clavicle (shoulder joint). I feel it when I do bench sometimes and sometimes in my knees when i do squats...I think as long as it doesnt hurt its ok but i would consult with a doctor just to make sure...

            CORRECTION:

Its not the miniscus but the supraspinatus tendon. Sorry Guy

Yeah i've just turned 20 and my biggest growth spurts have occured over the last 18 months (5'11 to 6'3) so hopefully it's just a case of my body coming to terms with it's new size.

no worries man......i think you're more than likely onto something cos i get it when i do push ups as well, which is the same sort of action as benching.
                Thanks for the info
