  • Navy Seals pre-entry Training Regimine

Exige Jr. posted a pre entry training regimine for the Royal Marine commandos, so i thought i would post the one they Navy Seals recommend. This is supposed to be done over the 20 weeks prior to attempting to become a S.E.A.L. I'm starting in January, not to become a SEAL, just to get in shape.

Yeah, and this doesnt even guarantee you entry. it's just to have your body ready to do the stuff the make you do for "try outs", but at try outs you have people doing mental/ head/ emotional stuff to you. Telling you that you suck, that no one will be mad at you if you quit because it hurts/ good cop-bad cop, stuff like that (and much worse). I know a guy who went through it and said you just get psychologically messed with non stop while having to do ridiculous feats of physical strength and endurance. he was kidnapped and blindfolded, headphones with loud sounds of battle were put on his ears, and he was loaded onto a helicoptor, dropped into the ocean in the middle of the night (they took the blindfold and headphones off before dropping him in) and then him and 3 other guys had to find their way to shore (about a mile open ocean swim in pitch black, not knowing for sure if they were swimming the right way), then once they were there they had to pick up a ridiculously heavy boat, carry that for about an hour down shore, then stand there, holding the boat until the sun rose. all the while this was going on there huge speakers blasting more war sounds. Guess that's the type of **** they have to be ready for.

      Not for me.

As far as doing the workout, im going to do the running first thing in the morning and then the other stuff as early in the day as i can. i have a tendency to talk myself out of doing stuff if i wait until too late in the day. lucky for my, my classes dont start until 11:30 AM this upcoming semester.

i've seen this workout on other sites and tried it myself. I remember reading that you should do each exercise one after another, but then take as much time between sets (i.e. do a set of pushups immediately followed by a set of situps then a set of pull ups, rest after you complete a set of each).

honestly, swimming is like running... there's not really a substitute for it. it works most of muscles in your body, plus gives you great cardio. It also teachers your body to use Oxygen more effeciently, since you cant breathe whenever you want. I guessy you could try biking? really, if you dont get to swimming it's going to be tough for you. when i started swimming i couldnt do more than 2 laps in succession (within 2 weeks i could do 35 laps though, so the learning curve isnt too steep) i would try to get yourself to a "Y" with a pool.

Yeah i guess if i want to join up im gonna have to make the time. But my boxing helps my fitness as well and the two should compliment each other. How about a rowing machine because that works most parts of your body becuase my boxing gym is moving in january and its like next to a gym that were allowed to use whenver we want for free.

rowing machine is definitely good, but different from swimming. swimming works the hell out of your shoulders and lower abs. with rowing, you get most of the power from your legs. im a big proponent of mixing it up. a little of this, a little of that, a little of the other thing (or a lot of this, a lot of that, and a lot of the other thing). but if you can get to a pool, do it. your stamina and endurance will sky rocket. swimming is what Juan Diaz attributes being able to throw so many power shots in repetition too. he is actually why i started swimming... he was talking about how he swims more than he runs in an interview.

the mental parts of the SEAL training are much harder than the physical. any guy that's in good shape could do most of the stuff, but can u go a week without sleep, be blindfolded and tortured like mrrupo says? i think that's where they eliminate alot of wannabes. i couldn't do it, i couldn't go a week without sleep or food and still be able to fight
