I never put much thought into it since I am nowhere near as muscular / musclebound as Jeff, but Stewards comments that Lacy was struggling because he was so muscular made me wonder a bit. How did guys like Holyfield, Tyson, Mosely who were well known to lift heavy and often avoid getting the apparent hinderance from being excessivley muscular? Any insight on this one would be much appreciated. I've considered using weight training previously but always got shy about it because of the worry over it hampering flexibility / stamina as was eluded too in Lacy's fight vs Manfredo.

Man I lift and train, I feel great. I lift big twice a week and lift light wieghts as quick as I can at the end of the week. I'm 136 and I keep lifting IN my training....period!

perhaps the comment means that Lacy is unnaturally large for his size. So much to say that Tyson/Holyfield... and others of that ilk were all naturally huge guys anyway. Lacy lifts to many weights.
Lacy is a natural middleweight with a heavyweight physique - and is impeded through lack of speed.

i read somewhere that he does NOT use weights (it was a longg time ago,dont remember where).. I was like what?
lacy seemed unstopable.. i was disapointed with his last fight.. i thought he couldve done much better.. but hey, he was off for a while. give him some time to get better.. im NOT hoppin off the bandwagon.. he used to be such an exciting fighter.. ill give him 2 more fight, if i dont see an improvement ill have to say that im not such a fan anymore

lacy had rotator cuff surgery. his punching with that arm will never be the same again unfortunately. he aint left hook lacy no more...

to the poster who said they lift heavy while they train could you shed some more insight on that? maybe a bit of a spoiler about your methods / exercises? I'd be interested in trying to incorporate weight training.
a guy in the gym I was in said he sticks with what he called "the fundamental four" bench press, squats, dead lift, and military press in front. the way he pitched it sounded logical but im not smart about weight training so i wasn't comfortable just yet thought I'd solicit some inputs here first.
