  • Conditioning 4 Youth

My lil bro (10 years old) has FINALLY expressed interest in working out with me (so proud of the lil guy) and im doing research trying to create a 3 day a week program for someone his age. Hes quite overweight but cardio wise hes in shape (what 10 year old isnt?) and Ive already done a strength workout but I'd like to make the second workout of the week geared towards conditioning and fun so he has something to look toward to since hes easily discouraged it cant be too hard or intense. Also it should be something that can be done indoors since its already snowy outside. I'm thinking hitting the heavybag but there needs to be more...ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if it seems like Im not taking the forum "serious" enough, I have yet to post my questions about boxing/training....this comes first.

heavy bag/jump rope switching off 3 minute rounds, 4-5 sets of that would be a good middle-of-the-workout.

maybe 3 minutes of shadow boxing followed by 15 push ups, another 3 mins of shadow, 25 sit-ups, another 3 mins of shadow, 15 push ups. to start the workout (after stretching)

hmmm.. to end switch off speed bag (or medicine ball tosses back and fourth) and fill in with 25 sit-ups, 15 pushes, 25 sit-ups..
      how that sound?

u could do some padwork with the kid, padwork is fun. try and get him to come running with u, it's fun if u have somebody with u. start small though, maybe really short runs. u don't want to push this kid too hard or he'll give up and quit, and then stick to the playstation and get fatter and fatter
