How Do I Increase My Footwork Speed!!...

    in the short term.. you can ; make sure you have footwork fundamentals down.. make a conscious effort to be light on your feet..try to keep at least one of the four points on your feet off the ground.

      i learned to use my feet by not focusing on em so much.. just worry about distance not stepping this way with that foot. watch mayweather calmly skip around and watch cotto walk around calmy jabbing. it doesnt take as much athleticism as you think.. just relax and put the footwork in 2nd gear.. dont even think about it, whatever comes naturally just do it. but of course you need to remain balanced and not get pushed over like a piece of paper

          Agreed, relax and dont worry about the speed of your feet when in the ring but concentrate on stepping the right direction and distance instead.

          Once you have the fundamental movements down in sparring then up the speed skip and plyo training, for me it was all about skipping skipping skipping!!! its great for foot speed and works the shoulders well too, great for cardio too the faster you go.

          Now you have the fundamental movements down and know which direction and distance works for each style of opponent you should be able to do that without thinking .... trust me if you have been religious with the skipping and plyo the speed will come.

          Next step is to spar with a bigger and quicker opponent and use as few blocks as possible, rather bob and weave, slip and slide, learn which angles your body likes and is comfortable with when you evade punches in this way.

            I Just Left The Gym With My Sparring Partner, And I Asked Him What I Need To Work On. He Says My Hands Are Fast, My Combos Are In Effect But I Just Need To Work On My Footspeed. But While The Question Was Raised.....neither Of Us Knew How To Increase The Foot Speed......

            Any Suggestions?
