I wouldn't say am boxing sucks. There are alot of fighters who are amateur in name only but get sponsored and train full time like the pro's. The way to win amateur fights are definately different from pro fights. I think it's an excellent idea watching amateur fights on the net or going to events to analyse the fighters, at the end of the day that's the level of competition we're all fighting at for now.
I've noticed that very few people on this forum actually take notice of what's going on in the amateur boxing scene. Even more ironic since the 2007 AIBA World Championships has just finished this weekend in Chicago!Comment

Where did it say I was going to turn like right now right now?Ive been told by my trainer and numerous ppl at my gym and the net, that the amateurs dont suit myself since I have more of an pro like style. I'm sort of getting the point system and the tactics some ppl use down.(been watching alot of amateur fights lately.)So after Golden Gloves Im going pro,**** the doubters.Me and my trainer's and team at my gym know what I could be capable of in the Pro ranks.I just need to show that in the pro ring. All talk and no show wont get you anywhere.Im not trying to be in that position. So I'll work on the things I need to work on so I can have great feedback to come back to.
You will know you are ready to turn pro when you can knockdown or even knockout some opponents with the lefthook to the body. It's your retirement plan, so you better learn how to set up properly.Comment

Thats a hard shot to get to. I tend to hurt ppl to the body with the right alot, but yeah I need to get that punch down. It seems easy to do with southpaws. The only thing you gotta do is slip there jab.I did it with a southpaw at my gym and I kept hitting him with it,and I kept telling him to try to protect it. I havnt seen him back since.hahaComment

Hey Verse, as you probly know, Tyson wasnt a very good am. Then look at what he did as a pro....2 time champion.
Plus he lost 2 contriversal decsions to Henry Tillman as a am, then KO'd him in 1 round as a pro.
If you turn pro, Ill root for ya.Comment
