Listen to your doctor and take it steady.

My friend (an amatuer champion numerous times and a winner of his England vest) has had surgery and metal parts put into his hand 3 times.

I remember he took his time and kept his fitness else where. Kept his weight down and tried his best not to get downhearted.

Other than that - its upto you. Its upto you to keep yourself from stay from the boxers lifestyle that you will have to attain.

agree with all these guys. i had shoulder surgery 3 years ago (rotator cuff) and i was supposed to not box for like 6-8 months. i jus ran alot and did alot of cardio and explsove training not involving my shoulders, and i was good as new after 3 months (THANK GOD). back in the gym and NEVER had a problem since then (THANK GOD AGAIN, AND KNOCK ON WOOD!). jus keep fit and do whatever workouts u can not involving ur hands. u'll be fine man dont sweat it.
