I wonder if it depends on the promoters, etc...as in it may be under the list of contractual agreements that includes ring size, etc...

like a fighter showing up with bright neon yellow gloves may not sit well with the opposing promoter...I wonder if it has to be agreed upon

Every Am bout I've seen is with RED & Blue for the judges to easily score points with corners.

the only amatuer fights that arent blue and red are the nyc golden gloves i believe and those are gold and blue.
