  • Pretty good or no?

I signed up at Gold's gym today for 2 years and hit the weights, my first time ever on the leg press I got a little over 600lbs after I had been working out with 400lbs. I wanted to try squatting but my legs were wobbly so I played a bit of basketball. Will leg presses increase my vertical leap? I'm 16 years old 6ft 185lbs (without shoes) and I've never done any leg exercises before. How much you think I can increase my leg press if I do proper exercises in about 5 months (Leg Pressing along with squatting)

It's probably harder for me cause I'm taller though meaning my legs are longer, how much can you squat?

Naw,haha.Ppl say that on bench also.Press has no advantages for smaller ppl. I mean you gotta come up with the weight because its leveled to the ground.Once you reach that locking point its up to you short legged or not,to get it past that point. Ive seen taller guys then me do about the same as me. So no excuses for that. Im naturally strong.

As for the squat? I used to squat 330lbs in high school. We were told to go all the way down and touch the safety bar,and weight for one second then come back up. Well that was when I was 16,weighing 145lbs. If I did it the football player way I would of been at like close to 600.haha They didnt go down for ****.

You want to increase your vertical leap? i have a program for that which increased mine sby about 6 inches or so. Very effective, jumping is highly limited by your calf muscles not just your quads.

That's ****en wack I thought it was going to work out my calves but all that is sore are my ass and my quads SOB.

Salty what kind of exercises do you have to do? I was playing basketball the gym yesterday with 3 skinny guys but one of them had calves packed full of muscle. They looked like they were 19 inches at least and he had a nasty ass vertical leap he was dunking effortlessly at around 5'6. I used to dunk it like nothing but I ****ed up my ankle and I haven't really played ball ever since and now my vert sucks.

I don't mean like 360's or windmills nothing like that but he was getting up high. He couldn't get it straight off the ground but when he'd run and dunk he'd get it like nothing.
