just throwing this out here - having great abs will not make you a better boxer.

I think you have the wrong mindset. Worry more about looking good technique wise rather than physical appearance for the fight. Having a solid looking body is all a bi-product of training hard which also includes eating right.
he does have the wrong mindset. you don't even need a good looking body to be a great boxer. actually, going out of your way to build a "nice" looking body will likely be detrimental to your boxing performance. if you really want a nice body, why not take up bodybuilding?

abs are cool and all, especially for the girls, but besides that they're nothing too special.Unless you're just trying to strengthen them for boxing.

no it wont...i dont care if the guy is ripped to shreds or if he is not ripped at all, thats not gonna change my confidence level. im there to fight and so is he, and he is in shape to fight, otherwise he wouldnt be there to fight me. so who cares how he looks. plus, unless ur fightin pro, no one is gonna see ur body anyway, so wuts the difference...

"ive only been boxing 2 weeks and got the fundamentals"

i call challenge on that statement.

you should rephrase, "I've only been boxing 2 weeks and THINK I have the fundamentals, but that will change drastically when i get in the ring and get worked over like b*tch for the first time and end up never returning because I was more concerned with being cool, and looking cool than loving boxing."

i think the best advice to offer based on your first two posts is to stay in school and use your brain. Be a doctor, be a lawyer, carry a leather briefcase. Forget about sports as a profession. Sports make ya grunt and smell. See, be a thinker, not a stinker.
