Hmm tips.Well bend your legs, and get to the level of that person's body and swing away.If you're that low your power increases to about double because you're planted and you're using the power in your legs and putting you body into it. If he throws a right slip it and duck low and counter it with shots to the liver. You can also throw a jab, then a right hook to the body.
If he knows you're going to go to the body and he hits your head then come up with an uppercut on the ****er.haha.Also turn your torso when body punching, your punch will go threw more effective that way. Also you can punch to the face for alittle while, just so he can open the body up and you can let loose. You can also do feints to bait him to throw so you can do some head to body combos.

Watch video of Oscar De La Hoya's left hook to the body. It's textbook: Short and compact. Never dip for extra leverage when throwing it: You're tipping off your opponent and begging for a counter right hand over the top. Remember: Short and compact.

Before about a month and a half ago, I would throw maybe 2-3 body shots a fight.. I was just a ****ing head hunter. Recently, I've been thinking while sparring and such of throwing some hooks to the body and **** and for the first time I've stopped people with them - in 2+ years. It might be hard to actively be thinking about the shots but if you get someone on the ropes and they are just blocking your shots (happened to me a lot because I would just tee off on the kids face) just throw a small, compact left or right hook to the side of the kid and smile when you watch him either a) fall; or b) grunt like a *****!

I hardly used to ever use them but when i sparring with my cousin the other day i realised how good they are. I got his guard up with jab straight combos to the head then moved around to his side where he was open and slipped in a sweet left hook and nearly dropped him to his knees. It was awesome.
I've always found them hard to get them in as im useally trying to block punchs getting in and when i'm there they have moved away. So what i've tried is what cotto does and that is throw a straight right leaping forward to get close and as your opponent will be taken by surprize you can work to the body.
