    boxers and supps.

Are there any negatives to a boxer taking supplements...i don't mean like weight gainers and cutters and stuff but more like testosterone or something along the lines of that...is it bad? I know alot of mma guys use stuff like that...

u talkin bout roids?? ur gonna get a mixed bag of responses here. i personally dont take, have never taken, or condone taking steroids, but based on what i have seen and what i have read and researched, yes the right kind of juice can certainly help any athlete become better. depends on ur body and what kind of cycle and what kind of roid.

to answer, ur question, yes there is a negative effect from takin roids of course, but if u do them right, research properly, and dont abuse them, there will be more benefit than damage.

think wisely before starting anything like that, and talk to ur doc, they are usually cool bout givin info about it and bein honest with u. good luck.

Naah, you don't need that stuff for boxing, test boosters are overrated anyway, imo/\.

Just stick to the basic vitamin/glutamine formula and you will be fine.

any protein shake that boasts about having **** tons of amino acids is usually sufficient for a beginner.

Eat well train and dedicate yourself. Don't lower your life span with these useless supplements!

I agree. I also think its better to know that every progression you made was 100% your body and effort and not some enhancing substance.

Just a quick question though. Ive just started going to a boxing gym and have been working my body harder than it has been worked in a long time and my upper bodies constantly aching. Do people drink protein shakes to stop that kind of thing happening? Like is that what they mean when they say it aids in recovery?

I trained at Renzo Gracie's for several years. Lots of high level MMA guys there training. No one was taking test boosters and whatnot. #1 most are snake oil, #2 if they did actually work you would show high levels in your piss test.

Most of those guys took a protein (usually whey), creatine, and a joint supp.

I think your point of saying alot of MMA guys take them is way way off. There are steroids in MMA, and I'm sure some of the guys at Renzos have used the gear at some point (im not naive).

But most "test" boosters, precursors, and whatnot have mostly been deemed as snakoil by the bodybuilding and athletic communities long ago.

Most guys who i have come across that train seriously take creatine, protein, and glutamine. (alot of good protein supplements already have glutamine in them so read the nutrition label)

It will help your recovery immensely.

also.... the forums and articles at the t-nation site are an excellent source of info for supps and anabolics.

www.johnberardi.com has a load of free articles where you can learn a lot about your bodies hormones, digestion, and most physiological info. (he is an MD and PhD). the nutrition articles are gems, especially the 7 habits article.
