  • Sonny Liston Pre-Patterson Routine

    Two Meals a Day-
Breakfast: five strips of bacon, 3 soft-boiled eggs, 2 glasses of fruit juice (I'm guessing, OJ), two cups of tea.

    Dinner: two pounds of steak.

    Daily Routine-
WALKs seven miles in seven pound shoes, shadow boxes for four rounds, skip rope for nine minutes (to Night Train, obviously).
[also says he rode a "red bike" around sometimes]

Proof of the natural born boxer.. ? I'd tend to say so.

i think the seven miles with 14 pounds strapped to your feet might be kinda intense. especially for someone only 6'1"-ish.

nah no way that is sonny liston's regimen i dont believe that for a second. where did u read that at i wanna see proof? a top heavyweight fighter who was one of the most devastating punchers only did some walking and skipping and shadowboxing?????

sorry but that seems a little far fetched....

wow, how little ye know. first of all, his jump rope routine was legendary.. so much so that before the Patterson re-match he did a Vegas show that was basically him jumping to James Browns' "Night Train."

And it came from The Devil and Sonny Liston and that article originally came from, I believe (since I don't have the book open infront of me, but I'm fairly sure) it was the New York Times, possibly NY Journal, I'm almost certain it was a NY News Paper, however.

The man was the best HW of all-time. When he wasn't asked to carry a fighter (or throw a fight period) he was a walking, talking, non-reading & writing, drunkard, rapist KO machine.

That cant be routine because i remember in one of my older ring magazines theres a picture of him doing his neck work and it says he does all different movements to strengthen his neck, so that cant be his routine.
