Nearly all pro boxers use weights apart from the ones being trained by manny steward and his kronk fighters. Even floyd uses them and look how fast he is.
I personally try to use weights around 4 times a week and each day training a different body part ie. arms one day then shoulders and then chest on another. I find it really helps my power and i've gained some decent size as well which is a plus.Comment

I've been using a weighted-ab/chest machine and some other light-weight machine type stuff. I've been doing sets of db presses during the week, some db shrugs, maybe a few other things.. I haven't benched a whole bar in a while and, eh, don't plan to.Comment

I'm pretty sure you gain explosiveness through lifting weights by pushing the weight in an explosive manner, so with bench press, you push the weight up as fast and explosive as possible.
Pylometric exercises like clap pushups will also develop explosiveness.Comment
