    How often you lift weights?

OK I bin boxing a while now and never really got into weight lifting only sometimes in circuits, but I wanna start doing it for extra strength in my arms and power, I weigh 65 kg I don't wanna bulk up I wanna stay trim and toned like I am at the moment but just gain the power and strength side for my body, just curious how often boxers on here do weights and do you include them in your normal boxing workout.

Well im not a boxer, but i try not to do them more than 4 times a week, as i feel you body has to rest and muscles need time to grow..thats how i think of it anyway. If u dnt wanna bulk up that do alot of reps (15-20) on a comfortable weight this will also help with stamina. Thats my advise anyway, dnt feel weights are nessacery for boxing i think it was Kevin Rooney who say" Weight Training has as much to do with Boxing as Cheese cake" (or something like that)

Lots of boxers do them. Ricky Hatton, Winky Wright, Bernard Hopkins, I can go on and on. Dont max out and do compound exercises. And you should be fine. Train for explosiveness.

Nearly all pro boxers use weights apart from the ones being trained by manny steward and his kronk fighters. Even floyd uses them and look how fast he is.
I personally try to use weights around 4 times a week and each day training a different body part ie. arms one day then shoulders and then chest on another. I find it really helps my power and i've gained some decent size as well which is a plus.

Yeah Floyd started lifting when he started moving up in weight. He is pretty ripped right now. Not lanky like he used to be.
