            boxing shoes are for boxing
            wrestling shoes are for wrestling

            are there huge differences? no
            are there subtle differences? yes

u can get KOd in boxing shoes the same as wrestling shoes, it all depends on wut ur more comfortable in. i use boxing shoes, some guys in the gym use wrestling shoes. no one can answer this question for u, get a pair of both and decide for urself which ones u perform and feel better in.

            that help?

They are designed pretty much exactly the same way.

Traditional boxing shoes are higher for added ankle support. The ain design theory behind both shoes is mat grip, and lateral grip. They are designed to be light and have extreme traction (especially for lateral movements) on clothe or mat surfaces.

They are also designed to be light and not used much on hard surfaces. this is why many people and trainers do not wear boxing wrestling shoes while doing floor work. the soles are to thin and the support in the upper is to light for floorwork, as well not having proper support for running, jumping rope ect.... plus sneakers have much more cushion and reduce the impact on your knees, ankles, hips ect while running or doing rope work.

If you are going for midheight shoes they are the same thing, sometimes exactly. they are so close to the point that Adidas sells its shoes as "boxing shoes" on boxing sites and "wrestling shoes" on wrestling sites and catalogs.

              Design is exactly the same.

              Adidas ring pro
              adidas combat speed
              nike low-pro
              TryntIII
              Adistrike

all of the above shoes are marketed as both boxing and wrestling shoes. and there is no difference except you can usually find them a bit cheaper via wrestling suppliers.

they are so similar it doesnt really matter unless you really want high tops, then you will have to go with boxing.

the jordan's are more like sneakers, but i will have to disagree with the poster above that boxing shoes are interchangeable with basketball shoes. there is a weight difference of about 100%.

how much do those boxing shoes weigh? My Lebrons weigh less than 19 oz. total and they are a bulky pair.

from looking at eastbay there is a SMALL (not 100%...) difference between wrestling and bball weight-wise, and I'm sure wresltling shoes are even lighter than boxing ones. i guarentee that bball shoes give more of what you'd want, especially a good pair.

uh.. boxing shoes are way lighter than bball shoes my man. i would never fight in a pair of basketball shoes, i would only wear boxing shoes...
