About one cup before I go to bed, it's dreamland after that.

learned this in bio 12 actualy. Lactose is a disaccharide which means that it is composed of two other sugars bound together. For Lactose to be absorbed it needs to be split into those two small sugars. I think the split is caused by an enzyme cause lactase. So if we have low amounts of lactase or simply dont have any the splitting doesnt happen and the lactose is like fermented in your large intestine which produces all the fun stuff like gas, upset stomach and diareah.

When we're babies we are all very high in this enzyme since we're being breast fed n such. As we get older and drink less milk the amount of enzymes being produced is lowered. So thats why when out of nowhere u eat a ton of ice cream and u feel sick its because you dont have enough or any enzymes to break down the lactose.

This is why you see people as they get older taking Lactase pills so they get digest dairy.

Also the probable reason for our bodies producing less of these enzymes probobly goes back to the cave days as we didnt drink milk past the days of being breast fed so our body was like "well we aint gunna produce no more of these enzymes if we dont need em". SO thats how its caused.
