  • Question for those who have Sparred Extensively WITH and WITHOUT HEADGUARDS

By sparring extensively with and without headguards, i mean not just tried the alternative once or twice, but had many sparring sessions both with and without a headguard.

    My question is this

How much additional punishment and/or how many more injuries did you get sparring WITHOUT a headguard ? What were the kind of injuries (however small) you got sparring without a headguard that you rarely got sparring with a headguard ?

Sparring without headguards I have recieved many skuffs and cuts on my face but I have better visibility without one so to me it seems like a fair trade you get tagged less but when you do it can have complications. With headguards on I have only recieved minor headaches from getting clocked.

But at my gym if the trainers are not supervising us sparring its almost like a cowardly thing to do.I dont know why everyone wants the battle scars but they dont bother me much, some people wear theres with alittle to much pride I think.

Got my ear drom shatered withouht headgear...Few marks, but no cuts...shouldnt punch that hard during sparring.....

I think its OK to spar withouht head gear as long as power is kept at a healthy level...

Headgear sometimes gets annoying but it provides better protection.

                lolol

i havent sparred myself yet. like seriouss in a gym yet... but id say thats kinda ****ed up, if ur gunna spar / box / fight/ whatever. anything along those lines with no headgear u might as well become a pro and get paid at least , like i dunno, its not smart.

i wouldnt do it. im gettin the best protection for when i spar, why **** urself up, save that for the real fights

Always wear head gear. I've done both.

I cut and mark up very easily. You only have to tickle my ass and i get two black eyes.

Accident happen and it could **** up your whole Am career, you don't want an eye opening up over and over again because the skin has been permenantly damaged from constant punches in sparring.
