  • Looking for some help and guidence as far as training and nuitrition goes...PLZ HELP!

I've been a fan of this sport for a couple years but just recently (about 6 months ago) got into actually boxing myself.

I've been working out for 2 years though but havent seen much success.

i dont know if its because im cursed or what.

i use to work out lightly everyday (before i started working out to box) but it never did much good...i use to ride a statonary bike 20 mins a day and do some moderate weight lifting...so about 35-45 minutes of working out a day and it did nothing.

since i started boxing i been working out twice as long but still nothing (10 pounds was dropped and thats it)

a guy who gave me advice (he use to train boxers) said i should stay in heavyweight division due to my size and (his words), "potential" to be a power puncher.

but the truth is being a heavyweight is not my natural weight.

    im 18 years old
    6 foot 1 inches tall
    roughly 240lbs.

i'd like to bring this down in a healthy SAFE manner. (i was killing myself before...i prefer not to indanger myself with the workouts...so now 5 day fasting or anything crazy)

i just want to get down in weight...get some good eating habits (i dont eat bad now...but i'd like to eat even better)

basically i dont know whats wrong because even though i eat no junk food (a diet soda from time to time is the worst i do...) i still cant drop weight anymore. i dont get it.

back when i was 15 i was about 5'8 and a very ripped 165. without even working out...i had the little sixpack going and all that. even while eating junk.

now i eat much better and workout about 5-6 days a week i cant do ANYTHING to my body.

i blame part of it on having a slow metabolism (it runs in my family) my dad use to be 5'9 and 240 even though he didnt eat junk. he had to beat up his body and workout everyday for 2 hours for 2 years to get down to 190...so yeah.

anyway i had a scare recently with some dizziness (turned out to be a viral ear infection) so the doctor told me to stop working out or driving for awhile so i dont get hurt.

but its been 2 weeks without dizziness and ive been okayed to return to driving and working out.

so i need some help as far as figuring out what to do (workout/training wise) and nutrition wise.

i need to know roughly what to do when i work out (what exactly...how long...how much...how often) and what i should eat (how many meals...what size meals...generally what food)

nothing exactly specific but a good generalization that will help me.

keep in mind im a beginner to the sport (the participating side of the sport)

    any ideas?

    well coming from me...

i was like 168 about 4 months ago, and i wanted to cut down to my fight weight which is like 150 ish... i dropped the 25 pounds within a month...

all i did, was trained HARD, the more u sweat , the more weight u burn off, i hit the heavybag for 12 rounds, like a pro title fight.. i did that like 3 times a week, and watched what i ate.. never went to fast food places, if i had to i would settle for tim hortans cuz its healthy... and id make sure i didnt eat too many chips or ice creams / pastas too often, watch the foods that get that weight on fast, avoid them

i dont know much about it, but thats what i did and it worked well. jus train ****in hard and watch what u eat

i wish u luck my italian brother. stay up on the site. peace

its one step at a time man, set a goal for a startin weight drop, cut to 225 first... then like 205.. then chill stay at that weight a little take a break then cut to 180-190, and ur done. 3 steps bro, u cant take it all in one, its too big of a cut

first off dont listen to the BMI ****...WAY OFF..

Second you know what to eat and how to eat you just have to do it and work your ass off. Slow metab in most cases is a cop out.

            anyone else have an opinion?

so far im about 3 meals into today.

            i broke 3 meals into 6.

and the meals are roughly the size of my hands...

            i've had (thus far)
            bread
            meat
            fruit
            vegetable

            so yeah.

what should i do to change my workout?

            i was thinking

25 mins on a stationary bike

            and

weights (targeting all areas of the body...but not in excess and not every area every day)

            and

(when i get my new punching bag)

doing about 8 rounds per day on the heavy bag doing various techniques in 8 3 minute rounds with 30 secs rest. and speed bag as well...

            good or no?

id say ur on the right track.. u dont really got limit ur meals a day.. jus limit the portions and TYPES of food u eat...

and liek the other guy said, jus work ur ass off. any work out that can make u sweat, is making u lose weight. the 8 rounds on the heavy bag will help a lot, thats how i lost most of my weight, just intense heavybag / double ended bag training. and running, its the best way.
